Tip of the Week
- Breakfast is served daily from 7:35 AM to 8:00 AM at Thoreau Elementary.
- Students coming into school after 8:00 Am are tardy.
- Read to your children every night, Have your children read to you.
If your child needs to ride a different bus home please make sure you send a note or call the office and let them know. The bus change needs to be authorized by the bus barn. Students will not be allowed to change buses or wait after school without a note. Also, if a student is being checked out by a sibling, he/she must be 18 years old.
Early Release for Mondays
Thoreau Elementary's next Early Release will be on Monday August 28th. Students will be released at 1:00 PM.

This week in reading we are reading the stories "Little Flap Learns to Fly" and "Help! A Story of Friendship" These stories focus on how friends help each other. The story skill this week is using details from the story to answer questions. The phonics skill is reading and spelling words with short a and short i. Please make sure your child is reading nightly for 20 minutes and completing the reading log by writing about what happened on the pages he/she read. Don't forget to sign the reading log. Thanks!!!
In math, we are learning how to solve addition problems using the following strategies: counting on, doubles, near doubles, and make 10. the students will read and solve story problems. Please check for and complete homework each night. The homework problems reflect what was taught in class and provide your child with additional test practice.
